Workers’ Compensation coverage is changing. Effective September 1, 2024, new legislation covering chronic onset stress will be implemented.
As the WCB prepares for the implementation of gradual onset psychological injuries, they are reaching out to workers and employers to share the WCB service model for this new type of compensable injury, and what workers can expect if they file a claim.
This May, WCB has scheduled three in-person sessions (in Bridgewater, Halifax and Sydney), and one virtual session, to enable workers, labour representatives, and/or Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee members to learn more.
Hosted by Karen Adams, CEO, WCB Nova Scotia, these sessions will explain:
- What’s covered under the new legislation, and what isn’t covered.
- What workers can expect from the WCB’s service for this new type of compensable injury.
- New service approaches that will connect workers to the services and supports they need sooner, enabling timely recovery and return to work.
- Where to find tools and resources to help workers build their resilience and maintain positive mental health.
The sessions will also offer dedicated time for questions and answers.
Please join one of the sessions! The voice of workers must be heard through this important process.
