Are you safe from Harassment and Violence at work? New Resources from the Safety Branch

Nova Scotia’s Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration (LSI) has recently updated their NovaSAFE page with resources related to Harassment and Violence in the workplace.

According to LSI,

“Harassment in the workplace has increased. In a survey conducted by the Federal Government in 2020 found that 47% of women and 31% of men reported harassment in Canadian workplaces. These incidents are an increase from 2018 when 19% of women and 13% of men said they had been harassed at work.

Although not currently part of our legislation, it is important for all workplace parties to help create a work environment that is psychologically safe”.

We encourage you to have a look at NovaSAFE and the new topic Harassment and Violence.

There’s terrific information about what Employers are required to do if violence is a hazard in your workplace, and also addresses best practices for preventing harassment and bullying from a safety perspective.
